Pop Art Portfolio Sample

Description: Each Thursday Afternoon, we go into 3 groups, Passion Projects with Suzanne, Pop Art With Kate, and Drama with Rebecca. I am in pop art. Pop Art is paper split in a quarter grid, then having a shape with non-constrasting bright colours, like green and ping, to make it pop. One example of a pop art artist which is an inspiration for me is Andy Warhol. Pop art was invented in 1955 in Britian, and in America by 1960. There are 2 types of pop art, Regular Pop art with a logo or image, and there is also word pop art. Personally, I like pop art. I have been working on mainly positioning different things.

Image:
Big Idea: We had to think of an image to put on to our pop art. I chose a plane, because planes are my passion. You are suppose to use non-contrasting bright colours to make it POP! I had to draw a plane, and make a stencil to trace with, and I split the page into quarters, and painted and outlined.

Feedback & FeedForward: I like your art and I like that added lots of colours and all the stuff that a real plane has but maybe you could make it look more realistic. Kiarna

Evaluation: I like how I did my Pop Art very efficiently, but next time I could slow down a bit and add more detail, not messy.

Writing Portfolio Sample

Description: In Rebecca's Writing Group, we have been learning about ideas. My goal is making a plan. We looked at an image as our motivation for the last 3 weeks.
Big Idea:
Stuck In a Bird's Cage by Tane

"SLAM"!, shouted the loud, yellow like the sun bird. "You really thought you could get away with 9 mean, rude crimes on me"!! The bird flapped its wings, and before it left, he said, "I'll be back in a few hours, with a shredder to DESTROY YOU"!

The cat was now stuck in an evil looking lab, with posters with plans to get free tickets to the cat's concert. Didn't I mention that Dylan the Cat is a singer? Well, he is. And that was a problem.

He had a concert at 7pm, and as you can see, I am trapped. He sneak leaned closer to the clock. This tick-tock object read 1:47pm. At exactly 4:45pm, the rude, impatient bird arrived with a shredder! The cat felt useless! At the minute the bird flicked the time switch, the bird remembered something.

2 years (Cat Time) ago, Dylan had a Legendary Competition., with the Rockers Prize (1st Prize) being backstage passes to his upcoming concert, Rock n Roll Beats! The bird was one number off, having 'UGA-593', instead of 'UGA-592'.

The cat chucked its paw on the buzzer to call the bird, then said poorly, with tears, "Please let me out. I will let you go to as many concerts as you want. Please"!

The yellow bird felt sorry for the cat, and unleashed the cat on one condition, to let the bird go to all of the concerts for free. The cat and bird became Best Friends and lived happily ever after.

Feedback/FeedForward: I think you did well but you need to not always put descriptive words #Jett

Evaluation: I like how I added lots of detail, but next time I could add more adjectives.

Production Portfolio Sample

Description: In a few weeks we are doing a production, which is an event which takes place every 2 years, and we preform in front of a croud of roughly 1,000 people. We have been making wearable arts by upcycling materials and reusing stuff. The main umbrella theme is 'Life', so my production group is 'Out of Africa'! I didn't choose my group because I was sick, but I am pretty happy with my group.

Friday 4th September 2015:
I have currently made a box mask, a corrugated card garment, a tin of fake coins, a wristband and a whip, like a rope. I am ready to add one more layer of paint to my mask, and where there is red on my garment like a paw, I will change it to blue. My next goal is to not add so many props, so I will add no more props. I think I have done great progress so far, but we still have 4 making days, so we will see what's next.

Finished Garment:

The materials that I used to create my garment were Corrugated Card, Paint, Shoe Box, Hot Glue, Rubber Band, Alcohol Bottle Caps, Tin Packet, Wooden Bits of thickish string, Paper, Frozen Yoghurt Bottle and Broken pieces of coat hangers.

The most challenging thing about production for me was trying to get my ideas together to make one AWESOME garment.

One way I demonstrated a growth mindset during production was I kept on saying, "I'm not finished YET".

Something I am really proud of about production was making a garment instead of wearing a costume.

Our school vision is to create agency, creativity and excellence. I showed this by thinking and creating original art. Most people in Out of Africa made animals, but I made an African Person.

Wind Tree

Description: In reading I did an activity where I watch a video about a wind tree to produce electricity, and summarize it with my own ideas and words.

Summary: In some cool locations, even in the urban area, look more closely at some trees, as these aren't any old tree, these trees have a roll to play. A very important one, energy. These trees could replace windmills, and produce more electricity, even when it isn't windy.

Reading Portfolio Sample T3 2015

Description: In reading we have done a portfolio sample on a Tic-Tac-Toe like last term. I did 'Wasteman', which is an activity where you have a summary written for a story about a waste man, but you have to write the whole story, so basically the opposite of summarizing, which is my goal.

Big Idea: Troy wrote a summary about this, and I wrote the full story. It was quite interesting writing a full story from a summary instead of writing a summary from a story. Overall, I thought it was kind of strange, because it was the opposite of what I have been learning. Anyway, I have learned how to summarize by looking for key words and key points, and putting all that together in a summary. Below is what I have done.

Summary: Waste Man was made by a man named Antony Gormley over a six-week period in 2006 out of 30 tonnes of recycled waste materials, it was then burnt a day after it was finished.

Full Story:

Feedback/FeedForward: I like how you added a lot of detail in your story but maybe you could say what is wasteman made out of. Houston.

Evaluation: I like my story and how I managed to get a little summary and turn it to a full story. Next time I could have more detail in my story, and explain the real textures from the summary into the story.

Tune in to Learning

Description: In Reading, I did an activity called 'Tune in th Learning', which is a website practising your summarising skills. I think I did pretty good at it, because I re-did it 2-3 times.

Below is a photo, and Click Here to practise it yourself.
