Seed to Table Update 1 Week 1

Today for lunch we are making Soup with Bread and Potato Bake. For dessert we are having Feijoa and Apple Crumble. I helped with the meal by peeling some potatoes, grating cheese, chopping potatoes and pouring cream on our potato bake.

As well as cooking, we have been doing science. We are investigating seeds. I am investigating Garden Peas. We got some paper towels and soaked it, then we put in some seeds and we shut it, then we put it in a plastic bag and now we are testing to see if it will germinate.

Reflection: I think I did well at peeling the potatoes because I had never peeled potatoes before and I enjoyed peeling the potatoes.

Sportstart

Description: This term we have been doing SportStart for our PE. We have been playing two main games, Gateways and Rainbow Strike. For Gateways you need: 2 cones and a ball/throwing object. Set up the cones in a line, one cone in one place, and another cone 50cm-1m apart. Now you can throw your object. For Rainbow Strike You Need: 2 teams, a bat and a tennis ball. It's a bit like cricket. Watch the video to find out.

E Te Reo Portfolio Sample

Description: On Monday afternoons, we split into 2 groups. We either go to Kapa Haka or E Te Reo. I go to E Te Reo. Over the past few weeks, we have been learning the different types of food in Maori. I have made a Pic Collage showing the different foods. We have also been learning a song called Aotearoa by Stan Walker. To learn the song, we translated all of the lyrics with Maori Dictionary. Then we started learning the song by singing it and getting really good. Now most of us know the song off by heart.

Feedback/Feedforward: I think you did well at explaining about what you did when we go to kapa haka but you could of showed what teachers you worked with. Tom

Evaluation: I think I worked well at learning both the song and the foods in Maori.

Cross Country Goals

Description: Today is Cross Country Day, and we are setting goals for our running and other people's running as well. My goal is to get in the top 20, because the track at Skoglund Park is hard for me, and I am not a running type of person. I can achieve this by not stopping and chatting, but running and jogging the whole 2 kilometres.
